Such structures are always impressive. 😯😮 The Söse Dam was the first dam built by the Harz Waterworks on the Söse River between 1928 and 1931. The cost of building the dam at the time was 14.7 million Reichsmarks.

The pond has a large outflow on the south side of the dam with a small waterfall. A second spillway from 1834 was added later on the north side. The stand made of oak, which is supposed to hold back the ice floes, is impressive

There are 2 free parking spaces available, making it easy to start your hike here. At the Prinzenteich you can still see the tall spruce trees and with its two outflows that pour over waterfalls, it is something very special.
