Beautiful, restored castle in the city park...

A little gem off the main route Gebelzig Castle is a true gem – impressive, yet rarely overcrowded. The grounds date back to the 18th century and are lovingly maintained today. The view from the park side with its ancient trees is particularly beautiful. Tip: If you appreciate peace and quiet, you should take a half-hour walk around the castle – it's particularly atmospheric in the morning or late afternoon. It's also ideal for a small picnic on the lawn opposite.

Spreewiese Castle is a Renaissance castle located in the Spreewiese district of the municipality of Großdubrau in the Bautzen district of Saxony's Upper Lusatia. It formerly served as the manor house of the Leichnam or Spreewiese manor and is now inhabited. The building is a listed monument due to its architectural and local historical significance.

The construction of the Gebelzig Castle dates back to the 14th century. Until the early 16th century, it served as a gathering point and refuge for Upper Lusatian robber barons. Today, the rooms house the Hohendubrau primary school, the day-care center and the kindergarten. The primary school was extensively renovated in 2012.

It is an easy-to-walk path with small obstacles that add variety to the natural route.
