The current Bantikow Castle dates from 1906. Even before this new building, there was a castle or fortress on the knight's seat of Bantikow, which had existed since the early 14th century. However, this older building no longer existed at the beginning of the 20th century, which is why the new building in the neo-baroque style was built directly on top of the older core. Bantikow Castle is currently a privately run child and youth welfare facility.

The Renaissance castle was built in 1604 and was almost entirely owned by the von Klitzing family until 1945. The simple, two-storey plastered building has gabled dormer windows standing close together on the long sides, two on the courtyard side and three on the garden side. They tower over the gable roof and give the impression of a third storey. The entrance to the stair tower in front is decorated with an oak door with acanthus ornamentation and a sandstone seating niche with a coat of arms. The castle park with its partially preserved old trees invites you to linger.

The castle is not open to the public. It is now a facility for traumatized children.

The castle was built in 1740 and was owned by the von Kröcher family. The Baroque style of the castle is unique for the Prignitz area. Today there is a branch office of the registry office and a hotel in the building. The owner is extremely friendly and has invited me to also look at the back of the building and the adjacent park. Should not be missed, so plan a short detour off the path!
