This is a site that was inhabited by people thousands of years ago, as can be proven by archaeological finds. Visitors of our modern times are invited to stay at least for a short time. Some will certainly be happy to take advantage of the opportunity offered here after the climb.

To be honest, the name leaves me a little perplexed: why did someone back then come up with the - to me incomprehensible - idea of naming an ore mine in the Hunsrück after the deity Apollo from Greek mythology, and the god of the sea at that?

Trail descent to Eltz Castle

When the hiker reaches this farm on the Moselsteig path towards the mouth of Koblenz on the stage from Treis-Karden to Moselkern, Eltz Castle is not yet in sight, but a large part of this high point of the tour has been made. Now it goes downhill along forest paths, at first leisurely, later steeper. When the flow of tourists increases, Burg Eltz gets closer :-)
