The shelter is located at the entrance to a peaceful forest. You can be buried here in the forest. It's also beautifully quiet here, the shelter is practical, and has a charming name. A wood carving of a squirrel is within sight.

This shelter, also known as the pensioner's hut, was built in 1969 by the then mayor Karl Bettag. It is a popular resting place for hikers and cyclists and offers a nice opportunity to take a break and enjoy nature.

There are two guest rooms. When the weather is nice, there is still space outside under the shady trees. There are Palatinate specialties, changing daily specials, various types of coffee and home-made cakes. There is also draft beer from a local brewery and delicious Palatinate wines from the Meckenheim wine region. There is a large playground for the kids. A disabled toilet, a changing table and circular paths suitable for strollers. Private parties can also be organized.

Very nice, situated at the edge of the forest. When returning by bike from the Palatinate, the Waldhaus is a nice destination for a refreshment break.
