Beautiful descent through the gorge...you should be sure-footed.

Wonderful rustic gorge. Highly Recommended. But the warning signs are really not just "pro forma". 1. Waterproof footwear is mandatory. You HAVE to step into the water at some point. 2. You MUST climb obstacles and slopes. 3. The ascent from the valley (clockwise) takes place on old scree from old landslides and is therefore only roughly secured. 3. If it was raining I would have turned around and not climbed out of the valley at the end. In short: Beautiful, but - surprising for me - also the first time that the warning signs (in Saarland) have proven to be justified.

Pig cheek At the beginning of the last century, the town of Labach was popularly known as a mining village. Half of all employees worked in the mining industry to earn extra income, while a number of families worked as a sideline in agriculture. Goats, pigs, chickens, ducks and rabbits were kept as farm animals in many families. Every morning the local swineherd collected the pigs and drove them to the pig's neck where the animals stayed during the day. In the evening the shepherd brought the pigs home again in the herd. Since the pigs wallowed regularly here at the end of the gorge, this place was soon given the name "Schweinskaul".
