From the Tempelberg lookout point, you can enjoy a view over the Weser glacial valley and, in good weather, even as far as the Weser Uplands. There, you'll find the Lönshütte, a shelter where hikers can stop and enjoy a snack. At Tempelberg, you'll also meet Lüttjemann and Püttjerinchen. A story by Hermann Löns (1866-1914). The little gnome Lüttjemann goes on a journey and has several adventures. At the end of his journey, he meets Püttjerinchen, and they celebrate a gnome wedding.

The barn district in the Schlüsselburg district of Petershagen still comprises 26 barns that are built together in a very small space. During the Thirty Years' War there were repeated lootings and fires that hit the population hard. The close proximity of the buildings quickly led to the loss of all winter supplies in the event of a fire. At the beginning of the 17th century, people began to build storage barns outside the town in a flood-protected area. The barns, built close together, still form the unique panorama of the barn district today.

Simple but cozy and clean open weather shelter with benches and tables. Various information about the hiking trail etc. is hanging on the walls. When we visited, there were two fire bowls with firewood in front of the hut. Next to the hut there is a simple organic toilet. There's nothing better you can do for a cyclist. And all under magnificent, large, old trees. Fantastically beautiful.

A measure that is unique to the Weseraue bird sanctuary is the refilling or removal of soil from several former excavation areas to a significantly lower level, close to the groundwater. This has created large areas that are flooded for longer periods of the year and thus provide a habitat for rare animals and plants that are typical of river floodplains. The mud banks, which occasionally dry out, have numerous specialized plant species. The extensive water change zones within the bird sanctuary are a particular attraction for numerous wader species, the so-called waders. In order to keep the valuable habitats open, frugal cattle and horses graze over large areas in the "Windheimer Marsch". Various waders and water birds such as little ringed plover, dunlin, oystercatcher, greenshank, redshank, Temminck's stint, common sandpiper, garganey, shoveler and teal can be found here at times.
