The lake landscape near Hävern is a beautiful nature reserve in the natural area of the Wesertal between the districts of Hävern and Großenheerse in the town of Petershagen. The area extends over 104 hectares and is part of the EC bird sanctuary "Weseraue". The former gravel ponds are now biotopes for water birds and offer a picturesque backdrop for walks and exploration.

The forest area of the Loccum Monastery (approx. 650 ha) is located about ten kilometers west of Lake Steinhude and comprises six sub-areas (forest locations) of different sizes.
