The Felsenbad Pottenstein in Pottenstein (Upper Franconia) is an outdoor swimming pool that opened in 1926 and was already considered one of the most beautiful outdoor swimming pools in Germany in its original form. When it opened at Pentecost 1926, the pool had a 1,300 square meter swimming pool and a four, seven and ten meter diving facility, which was built into the 70 meter high Finkenstein. A renovation of the badly damaged pool in the 1970s failed due to the high costs. The Kurhaus in Pottenstein received an indoor swimming pool in 1972. This was expanded into the Juramar adventure pool in 1995. The rock pool temporarily closed in 1987 until it was reopened at Pentecost 2001 after a restoration phase. During the renovation, the concrete pool was replaced by a natural swimming pond. The water is purified in a planted filter basin that is filled with filter substrate. The cleaned water at the bottom of the pool is pumped back into the pool via a drainage pipe. With this method, the use of chemicals can be avoided. The pool is located about 500 meters outside Pottenstein, opposite Lake Schöngrund, the summer toboggan run and the Devil's Cave.
