To us passersby, such a millpond, as it presents itself here, may seem ordinary, but there is another perspective: For example, in the world of Otfried Preußler (1923–2013), who became famous for his imaginative children's books, it looks quite different: Here, such a millpond is also the incredibly exciting habitat of a family of water sprites. His still-popular book, "The Little Water Sprite," tells wonderful stories of the adventures experienced by the family's youngest members. On an audiobook CD, the water sprite mother sings her son to sleep: "Little water sprite, close your eyes and let yourself rest a little, I'll sit here for a while and watch you sleep. May your dreams guide you and touch you wonderfully, and when you wake up again, a new year will begin for you."

It is the only body of water in the Hochmössingen district. The pond was first mentioned in writing in 1586.

The fish pond is called "Türnensee" and is a popular hiking destination, even on foot from Dornhan or Fürnsal.
