Nice place for a break

The spring of the “Forzbachl” is a popular destination for young and old. In the spring of 1932, the spring of the “Forzbachl” was laboriously enclosed by Mr. Weißbach, a citizen of Thalheim. The local group of the GDR Cultural Association redesigned the area in 1976. This spring water has been sought after since the 1930s for the traditional “Easter water fetching”. On the one hand, the custom says that whoever washes themselves with the water from the spring before sunrise on Easter Day will be blessed with eternal beauty. On the other hand, drinking coffee with Easter water brings good luck for the whole year. However, no word may be spoken until you reach the spring. A water analysis does not certify that the “Forzwasser” is of official drinking water quality, but a hike with a rest at the popular spot in the forest between Thalheim and Jahnsdorf is worthwhile at any time of year... The Markus Röhling mining smithy, the hut house and the horse sledge at the Markus Röhling Treibeschacht are in an idyllic location directly on the mining trail. The hut house was first built on this site in 1768. The mining smithy was built in 1773 and was expanded in 1785 with a horse sledge. In 1857 the mine was closed down and the horse sledge was later demolished. The area has been run by the “Markus Röhling Treibeschacht” association since 1999. Hikers and day tourists can enjoy a good drink and a meal on weekends (during the week by appointment) and visit the horse sledge newly built in 2000 and exhibitions.
