Solidified magma from the Earth's interior. The 30-meter-long and 90-cm-thick Devil's Wall was formed by volcanic activity approximately 14 to 7 million years ago. It can be reached from the "Teufelseck" mountain hut.

Definitely stop by 😍 The price is a bit high, but the food is great and the atmosphere is fantastic. You can also just walk there for a coffee or even drive there if you want. Highly recommended as a little break 💚

Below the Weidelsburg is this large old quarry with a shelter. Stone was quarried here for the construction of the Weidelsburg.

About 500 m down the path to the west below Weidelsburg is the “Katzenloch” leisure complex, owned by Hessen-Forst, Wolfhagen Forestry Office, a basalt quarry that was closed down in the 1960s. The long-distance hiking trails Habichtswaldsteig-Extratour H8 and the Huguenot-Waldenser-Pfad lead past it directly via the so-called zigzag path. There is no reliable evidence of the name “Katzenloch”. However, it can be assumed that it was derived from the natural stone name “Katzenköpfe”. The elf beech tower: An observation tower that is currently closed due to dilapidation. The tower built in 1879 by the Cassel Beautification Association with masonry blocks made of Habichtswald basalt tuff was inaugurated on September 18, 1879.
