Rabenauer Grund. Info: Picturesque landscape, the riverbed of the Red Weißeritz, the Weißeritz Valley Railway steaming through the valley, benches and shelters inviting visitors to linger, and much more. The valley has been a nature reserve since 1961 due to its flora and fauna, including rare species.

The hiking trail through the Rabenauer Grund along the red Weißeritz is fantastically beautiful and easy to walk. You are accompanied by the sound of the source river.

The riverbed of the Rote Weißeritz meanders through a picturesque landscape from Freital-Coßmannsdorf towards Rabenau and Seifersdorf. This V-shaped valley, which is up to 80 metres deep, is known far beyond the city as Rabenauer Grund and has inspired works of art by famous painters such as Johann Alexander Thiele, Caspar David Friedrich and Ludwig Richter. The bizarre rock formations and landmarks, to which various legends and events are attributed, are particularly striking. Some of these are explained on waymarks and signs (for example Einsiedlerfelsen, Predigtstuhl, Nadelöhr, Goldstampfe, Nixentump, Pferdetump, Planwiese, Trompeterfelsen). A small idyll on the outskirts of Dresden❤️

It's impressive to see these stairs. The small bridge that can be seen in the pictures is not accessible, but that doesn't matter.

The Friedrichgrundbach stream flows for about 1.5 km through the Friedrichsgrund, named after Elector Friedrich August III of Saxony. Towards the end of the 18th century, it was built and embellished with a total of 10 bridges, similar to the Seifersdorfer Valley.
