The Holmer Sandberge are a very beautiful, quiet recreational area. A short rest is particularly suitable at this beautiful lake.

The pond in the Holmer Sandbergen was once created through sand mining. Later, an additional shallow water zone expanded the area. There are no inflows such as streams. Therefore, only rainwater or upper groundwater-bearing soil layers feed the pond. Climate change has become particularly evident in the last three years. The summers had very little precipitation, but at the same time the high temperatures resulted in heavy evaporation. A historic moss or bark hut Friendship Temple of Baron Voght, built in 1790 The hut was rebuilt in 1995 with a donation from the Hermann Reemtsma Foundation.

The refuge seems to be relatively new and is ideal for a picnic or a short coffee break.

Well suited as a shelter in a sudden rain shower.
