Beautiful Lautertal valley with many truly interesting information panels about the history of mining and the town's origins. One of the shortest and most beautiful routes from Suhl to Schmücke. Plenty of rest stops, all in good condition (March '25).

Highlight already exists as a section... Wonderful valley with a small road that stretches for almost 12km between Arnstadt and Crawinkel. There is a bit more traffic in the afternoon, but it's still bearable. Asphalt is great!

A time trial has been held here every year since 2023, the "Jonastaler Challenge". Highly recommended...It's really fun to ride along there. If you're unlucky, the wind whistles through the valley. I love this route! 🚴🏻♀️✌🏼

Copper and silver ores were discovered in the Golden Lauter valley in the 15th century and mined until the end of the 19th century. Unfortunately, no gold was found, as one might assume from the name.
