Štrkovecké lake[1] is a lake in Ružinov in Bratislava. It is a valuable urban-architectural element of the Bratislava-Ružinov district. Even in the 1950s, the Mlynské rameno reached here from the Little Danube through Vrakuňa, which gave way to the construction of a housing estate. In the lake that remained, gravel and sand mining for construction purposes began. The lake, with an area of 56,000 m², is paradoxically shallowest in the middle (it is 2.5-8 m deep), because that is where the excavator stood, extracting gravel from its surroundings. Until 1989, it was a lake with clean water and served as a natural swimming pool for the inhabitants of Štrkovec. It is located on the main migration route of waterfowl, which runs along the Danube, and is therefore a stop for birds looking for a suitable place to rest and get food during migration. For the residents of Bratislava, the lake is a popular cultural and social, recreational and sports location. A clay jogging track has been built around the lake. At the same time, in the early 1990s, the lake had heavily polluted water, unimproved banks, and it was considered to dispose of it by filling it in. Nice Štrkovecké lake suitable for relaxation and sports. There is a snack bar and the Radosť games area. During the summer there is a summer cinema and water bike rental and you can sunbathe here.

Such a nice bathing opportunity during a bike tour is always a great thing. But I would only recommend nudist bathing if nobody is around. Abroad you are rather prudish in this regard!

The reservoir, which was once created for the operation of the Gabcikovo hydropower plant, is now a paradise for water birds.

Very nicely located. Wonderfully quiet. Fishing is strictly forbidden here. Should only be to relax.

The little detour is definitely worth it. Over a sports field you come to a small pond and then on a simple forest path with no gradient to the children's playground. Can also be used with "normal" bicycles.

Just a nice corner in the middle of nature. Perfect place to take a break / snack / picnic.
