At the foot of the Schafkogel lies a small, rustic hut with deck chairs, perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun. It's a perfect spot for a short break before continuing on. The more challenging part of the climb begins right next to the hut – a firmly anchored ladder makes it easier to access the steeper terrain toward the summit. This spot not only marks the transition from a leisurely hike to an alpine ascent, but also offers a beautiful view of the valley – ideal for taking a breather, taking photos, and recharging your batteries.

Beautiful shelter at the upper end of the gorge, perfect for a rest.

The food is good and quick, and there is enough space. The view is wonderful.

The Gerhartl refuge is located at the end of the Johannesbach Gorge in the Gutenstein Alps. The fastest way to the hut is via the Eichberg from Unterhöflein. The hike through the Johannesbach Gorge from Würflein is an experience especially for children. The hut is also designed for families. Children's dishes on the menu and a playground complete the offer. Overnight stays in the hut are possible, and two holiday homes are also available for rent. Dogs are not allowed in the rooms
