Until the lake was completely fenced in, this place was a beautiful place, especially in the evenings, with a lovely holiday vibe. Now it's more like an enclosure.

Unfortunately, the recreation center and the bathing lake are only accessible to a very limited extent, and the cycle route is also subject to car traffic. Even the flower boxes that are supposed to prevent cars from driving onto the cycle path are so awkwardly placed that cyclists with luggage have trouble getting through.

Archduke Leopold Ludwig inherited the property in 1854. Hernstein Castle owes its current appearance to him. He spent 28 years rebuilding and expanding the castle according to plans by Theophil Hansen, who is also the architect of the Parliament in Vienna. 01/01/2023 - The Knollteich at Maria-Theresienplatz has become more and more muddy over the last few decades. The restoration began in 2005 - the result is impressive. The Knollteich was completely repaired by HSV Fishing and Casting in 2005. The ongoing flow of water from the Kehrbach (Schwarza) allows the stocking of trout.
