The original complex, a medieval fortification (tower castle), is located north of Frauheim Castle. Frauheim Castle itself is located directly south of the L664/Badendorferstraße, on the steep slope of the hill country accompanying the Leibnitzer Feld in the east. The old fortification, called Frauhaym around 1417, was possibly destroyed in the Hungarian and Turkish wars (1480-1490) or, since the fortification probably only consisted of a walled tower and was not very livable, abandoned in the 16th century. In 1514 the rule passed to Hans Rindsmaul, whose son Michael began building the new castle at the present location in 1560. The castle is a protected monument and privately owned by the Kellersberg family.

Castle Murstätten from the 14th century is now a senior citizens' home with 16 residential units.

The castle cannot be visited because, as the previous writers have already reported, it has been a home for the elderly since the 1970s. When I was young, there was also mass on Sundays in the chapel. The park is very beautiful and can also be visited.

I have to correct the Mäxi a bit, if you take the gravel road turn-off directly on the R2 under the Autobahn bridge and drive along the small road next to the Autobahn. After a few hundred meters, turn left again under the 2nd motorway bridge, then you come to the Retzhof and you don't have to take the dirt track. You can also get to the city of Leibnitz via Retzhofer Straße.

Schloss Seggau is more than a castle: like a small town, it lies on a gentle hill in the middle of the southern Styrian wine region. Hotel Schloss Seggau has been known as a destination for decades. Probably the most impressive rooms in the palace are the princely rooms. The bishop's wine cellar, which is over 300 years old, is one of the oldest and largest in the country.
