The Japanese Garden of Kadriorg Park opened on July 31, 2011. The garden's designer, Masao Sone, is from Kyoto and learned garden design from his father, who was a gardener. The area of Kadriorg's northeastern pond, with its covered cliff slope, boulder field, large trees, pond, and waterfall, provided an excellent source of inspiration. A highlight of the boardwalk trail is this observation tower. It's ideal for panoramic views of the entire moor or for observing wildlife when things are less busy. It's also a great spot for photographing the Northern Lights. In winter, you just have to be careful; the climb was icy and therefore very slippery.
