The houses are family-owned and today mostly belong to several families. Because the descendants of the families often use this simply as a holiday home. However, there is a restaurant called Gasthöfli, which is open in summer. It offers drinks and simple local dishes such as sausage and cheese platters, soup of the day, Wienerli, etc. Only one person lives on Alp Äsch all year round. Access is very dangerous in winter due to the risk of avalanches and is therefore not recommended.
