Great for a stay before heading to the summit

A great base for tours or as a destination, with a rustic alpine flair and fantastic views toward Niesen, Lake Thun, Gerihorn, Justiztal, Niederhorn, etc., especially from the easily accessible Morgenberghorn (2-hour ascent). Accessible from Aeschiried-Greberegg, Därligen, Leissigen, through the Suld Valley, and Saxeten. From Lake Thun, the 1,000-meter climb is a worthwhile experience. From Greberegg, there are fantastic views toward Interlaken and Lake Brienz. The alp is a must-see.

Definitely worth a break - and buy some Alb and/or goat cheese for your picnic on the Morgenberghorn.

Beautiful alpine pasture that is also a mountain restaurant in summer. In winter you can relax here and enjoy food from your backpack.

The hut is very nicely situated, but is somewhat primitive in terms of sanitary facilities, especially when the herd guard dog, which is necessary today for keeping goats, "guards" the entrance to the toilet.

Super personable, simple, and friendly. After the hard descent from the Morgenberghorn, just the right place for a refreshment.

When we, as Thunersee residents, go to the Stockhorn, we always combine it with a visit to the Oberstockenalp mountain inn. It is a cozy place with a small terrace that does not allow large crowds of visitors. The staff is very friendly and attentive and fulfills every wish if possible. The range of food and drinks is also plentiful in line with the setting. We particularly noticed the variety of desserts. Since the inn's cellars contain home-made alpine cheese, it's only natural that your rucksack will be a bit heavier after your visit. Did we mention that you can also stay here overnight? Not? In addition to double rooms and dormitories, there are also star beds. Three igloos with transparent domes that contain a cozy double bed that promise pure romance on a starry night. For us, the Gasthaus Oberstockenalp, along with all the other natural highlights around the Stockhorn that have already been mentioned a thousand times, is the thing to do.
