In the heart of western Styria and on the southern foothills of the Rosenkogel, this historic building towers over the roofs of the market town of Stainz, surrounded by the castle's own vineyards and orchards. The castle was built in 1229 as an Augustinian monastery by Luitbold von Wildon.

The origin of this castle in the picturesque Wildbach valley dates back to the 13th century. Many parts of the castle that you see today were only built in the centuries after. The pretty yellow stucco decorations were applied in the 18th century. The building is privately owned.
