Every year at Pentecost, Thus is a festival. The weir is opened and the waterfall flows. A little further on, you'll find the overflow, which creates another waterfall, for example, when the snow melts. The stream was artificially created to supply the Thusmühle (mill) with water.

Numerous mills were powered by the water of the Warme Steinach. The Fulling Mill in the Laineck district of Bayreuth was built before 1728 as a marble mill and is still in operation as a gristmill. Small, privately operated hydroelectric power plants exist in Mittlernhammer near Sophienthal and at the Döhlauer Graben in Friedrichsthal.
