A nice place to linger along the route.

The climb of torture. The best climb when you drive from Vlotho towards Bad Salzuflen. It's a joy!

Coming from Exter, it's also a fairly steep descent. The path is more of a small gorge. If there are many pedestrians on the way, it is advisable to get off, as there is actually no alternative.

The Rethlager springs are one of the sights that can be reached on the Hermannsweg in the Teutoburg Forest. There are a number of other marked and easily accessible hiking trails around the springs. There is a campsite just a few hundred meters from the Rethlager springs.

Here you can see how far the advance of the ice was in the Ice Age. Mammoth bones were found in the 20 m deep pit. Today nature has settled there again with trees and bushes.

At this natural monument it becomes clear how far the advance of the Nordic inland ice during the ice age was. The Scandinavian glaciers then flowed to the valley of the Berlebecke. Much is not recognizable in this type of gravel pit from the deposits of the past days. The ice thickness on site is estimated at 200m.
