As with many (viewpoint) locations whose names contain the word "ley" (or "lay"), such a name indicates slate as the underlying rock. Since we are located here – geologically speaking – in the "Rhenish Slate Mountains," the number of corresponding "ley" locations is not surprising.

These are the remains of an outbuilding of the former Gronrechtsmühle, which in old documents is also called Gronreignermühle, Groenenthaler Mühle, Rosenthaler Mühle, or Falkenstein Mühle. The spelling varies greatly and seems to have been chosen quite arbitrarily. How old this mill is is uncertain... From the Kuckucksley lookout rock you have a great view of the Oleftal. There is also a shelter here. The climb is easy to do.
