There is a bird watching hut at the Appelhülsen sewage fields. It is a little deserted. But you have a beautiful view of the lake

Lake Buldern is also called “Samsonsee” by locals after an old farm on the peninsula. The groundwater lake was created in 1977 by sand extraction for the construction of the nearby Autobahn 43. Today a recreational lake with a swimming area and well-developed paths.

Unfortunately you have to go through sand to get to the hut. It's a shame, because the hut was designed in such a way that it can be reached without steps. Accessibility is only half thought.

The new seats are really good.

There are many nice places to sit and the water is also accessible. Keeping your feet clean after a long tour is really great!

The sewage fields in Appelhüllen are now a nature reserve. Many migratory birds find one of the increasingly rare resting places on their way here. The best view of the water is from the bird watching hut. People big and small can also follow the bird footprints at the SteverLandRoute hands-on station and find out which of the guests passing through here tend to live big and which small. The bird calls of the birds in the sewage fields can soon also be called up via a QR code. Behind the sewage fields you can see the tower of the former manor of Great Schonebeck. The house is now privately owned and cannot be visited. The SteverLandRoute is the family bike path in the Münsterland: Here, information boards for adults and information boards especially for children (!) provide information about the great project. There are a total of 14 hands-on stations along the route. If you like, you can use the children's discovery card to travel from station to station, collect coin impressions and become a Stever expert. Have a look at our collection :)
