The grotto was inaugurated in 1954. Until the end of the 1960s, a procession to the grotto took place every year on May 1st and August 15th. Beautifully designed and inviting place. There is more information about the history on the board on site. Definitely worth a visit!

Allerheiligenberg

Even before the hiker (or pilgrim) reaches the plateau of the All Saints' Hill with the pilgrimage church, there is this grotto with a figure of the Virgin Mary and a person kneeling to the side of it. The latter is Saint Bernadette, to whom the Virgin Mary appeared in Lourdes (in the French Pyrenees) in 1858. The small town on the banks of the Pau has developed into an important Marian pilgrimage site (if you are interested, see https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/4296538 ).

Here there is a short piece of rock face with many holes. Since they are the size of a head, they are ideal for “Heinzelmännchen”. The rock consists of karst and the small caves were created by erosion.

There has been a Mariengrotte here since 1954. Chaplain Böß had the idea for this in 1953. A procession to the grotto takes place here every year on the Assumption Day. Nice and neat :-)

This trail is located in the Mallendarer Bachtal, but at best you can see the exit if you look carefully. So drive up a partly quite steep loop and off you go. Very loose rock in dry conditions, but very easy to drive on. All switchbacks are easy to drive because they have a comfortable radius 👍 I would call the trail S 0.5 😜
