Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary The first parish register of the diocese, in which Wiesenfelden was mentioned as an independent parish, dates back to 1286. The 15th-century "Gothic" predecessor building had become dilapidated. However, the entire building was not demolished; instead, the choir was skillfully integrated into the new structure by altering the windows and vaulting. The present church was completed in 1764. Wiesenfelden was a very large parish in 1848, with a population of 2,472. The parish also included the curacy of the "Marian pilgrimage site of Heilbrunn" and the "Zinzenzell branch." The altarpiece depicts the Assumption of Mary, in reference to the patron saint (= patronage of a saint over a church). The two side altars formerly depicted Saint Barbara and Saint Wendelin; Since around 1920, the left side altar features figures of the Virgin Mary as Patrona Bavariae, and the image of Archangel Michael with the scales of souls is depicted in the excerpt. The right side altar depicts the figure of St. Sebastian, and the excerpt depicts St. Joseph with the Infant Jesus. The oil painting on the confessional depicts St. Peter, with a life-size cross from the Baroque period above. The front part of the nave is decorated with busts of the four evangelists with their symbols: St. Luke with the bull, St. John with the eagle, St. Mark with the lion, and St. Matthew with the angel. These are Baroque works from the late 17th century. The depictions of the Stations of the Cross are handcrafted oil paintings from the late 17th century. Of the Gothic interior furnishings, only a statue of the Virgin Mary and the figure of St. Sebastian remain. Beckenweiher The Beckenweiher, along with the chain of ponds near Pichlberg, the Großer Hammerweiher, the inflow and silting area of the Neuweiher, and other ponds, was declared a nature reserve by the government of Lower Bavaria on March 1, 2003. It is also the starting and finishing point for several marked circular hiking trails. A 2.3 km long, barrier-free circular trail runs around the Beckenweiher, which opened on August 6, 2009. The trail is surrounded by reed beds, small woodlands, and extensively used wet meadows. This circular trail for hikers and walkers is accessible even in winter and is stroller and wheelchair friendly. A guidance system made of sturdy round timber is installed along the trail, allowing the visually impaired and blind to navigate the trail. Five information panels provide information about the diverse local flora and fauna, species conservation, and the history of the Beckenweiher. Overall, a very nice tour, but because we noticed that the trail was quite steep here, we turned around in Frauenzell. So, the climb from Lindner Weiher wasn't so good.

Beautiful reservoir offers plenty of quiet places to take a break

Postfelden reservoir Stausee Postfelden is a reservoir in Bavaria near Rettenbach. On a water surface of 13ha, the reservoir offers a habitat for many different types of fish. The most commonly caught fish here are carp, pike, zander, perch, bream and 10 other species of fish. The most successful fishing method is bottom fishing. There is also a possibility to circumnavigate the reservoir.

A very nice trail, some of which is crisp, going up from the pond, some over roots and pebbles. I can only recommend it is a lot of fun 👍 But hikers should be careful when out and about!
