Bowers Marsh is a relatively new RSPB reserve between Pitsea and Benfleet stations. It's home to a lagoon, reedbeds, grasslands and plenty of birdlife. The reserve also features three viewing points and two picnic areas.

You can enjoy lovely views of Hanningfield Reservoir from this road on the south side. The reservoir is framed by beautiful woodlands and meadows, making it a favourite spot for walkers in the Essex area.

Great country park with plenty of trails

The lake sits in Cherry Orchard Park and is situated in the stunning South Essex countryside and takes full advantage of its picturesque, undulating landscape. It combines open grassy areas with woodlands, creating a diverse habitat that supports a wide range of plant and animal species.

A little island escape full of wildlife and scenic views. Perfect for a 5km run with a mix of pathways and sand trails. The eastern section is part of Leigh National Nature Reserve, where the saltmarsh is one of the best surviving in the Thames Estuary. Keep an eye out for the rare insects and butterflies and the kestrels flying overhead.

Good road surface with a lovely view of the reservoir from either direction. Good bird spotting opportunities.

Viewing platform across the lagoon, which is fed filtered water from the adjacent treatment plant to increase biodiversity and is home to a number of species of plants not commonly found in this part of Europe.

A large reservoir that serves as a protected haven for many species of wildfowl and is listed as a biological site of special scientific interest.
