A protected conservation site for wildlife managed by Bristol Water. Dating from the 1930s, Cheddar Reservoir has a capacity of 135 million gallons. The reservoir is supplied with water taken from the Cheddar Yeo river in Cheddar Gorge. It Panoramic views of the Somerset levels and Mendip Hills. Wildlife consists of Swans and various wildfowl, also visiting cormorants out for a spot of fishing. Very accessible walking route right around the edge of the lake.

Best ridden as a descent, some lovely views over Blagdon lake. Gets a bit rutted and eroded towards the end, best on a mtb

Stunning Swiss-style chocolate box chapel on the edge of pond, built in 1888. Well worth stopping but mind the traffic - it's on a national speed limit road.

Rickford Chapel is a 19th century "Swiss style" Grade II listed Methodist chapel built in 1888 which sits on the edge of Rickford Pond. Rickford Pond used to feed a paper mill and flour mill which were both built in the 18th century. The paper mill produced handmade paper until 1895 and the flour mill was unfortunately destroyed by fire. It's on the main road so take care if stopping.

A good stretch of cycle path along side Chew Valley Lake, good views and descent surface, nice bit of infrastructure that.

Starts off with big loose stones with big steps to stop erosion so its a push up for a bit then its ride-able on hard pack with more big stones but fine

The very bottom 150m of this lane (south) is a beast. Very steep, a couple of big steps, gulleys barely wide enough to push a bike up (Yes you’ll be pushing) and loose rocks. Once you’re through that it’s wonderful singletrack with only a couple of chewed up sections, climbing gently up towards farm double track before the final stretch on proper gravel. Probably best on an MTB but I did it on a gravel bike and still had a grin at the end.

Beautiful straight road with great lake view leading to the hills. The wooded area just north of it leading to the lake is a great stretch of road, too
