Queen's Park in Crewe is an inviting space within the heart of the town. This area was once used for open cast mining, the history of which is detailed on the on-site information plaque. I am presuming the area was converted to a lake when the site was converted to a Country Park.

This nature reserve was all once open cast mining. Until the late 50's this was the Madeley (Leycett) Colliery.
