This beach is made up of pebbles and exceptionally dark sand made from crushed grey slate. The slate gives the water in the "Blue Lagoon" its bright deep blue colour. To the north of the beach is a lovely little harbour - an open-cut quarry that is also wheelchair accessible. Be careful: there are strong currents here.

The Lily Ponds, a group of freshwater lakes, are part of a large wildlife sanctuary in the area and are home to a variety of wildlife including otters, wildfowl and dragonflies. About history: The Lily Ponds were the brainchild of one of Pembrokeshire's most important noble families, the Cawdors, who owned thousands of acres of parkland and farmland in South Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Nairnshire (Scotland). In Castlemartin Corse, the Cawdors converted several acres of wet barrens, described as "perfect bog", into good, productive farmland. They also devoted their attention to enhancing their estate in the form of ambitious landscaping, damming the valley of two rivers into ornamental lakes and building a magnificent new mansion on a site overlooking the water. They also built the eight-arched stone bridge over one of the lakes and laid out the lily pond, where a footpath leads down to Broad Haven South Beach and a wooden bridge crosses the pond for a close-up view of the beautiful blooms.

A small, very pretty holiday resort. Wide, flat sandy beach at low tide, but also plenty of space at high tide. Pretty harbor, breathtaking views from above. Please note: between May 1st and September 30th, dog restrictions apply to the entire beach except for a small area just before Coppet Hall Beach.

The Bosherston Lily Ponds are a really special place. The ponds have become well known for their exquisite summer displays of waterlilies. Dragonflies flit around in summer; birdlife is abundant and there are otters to spot if you're sharp-eyed. The tree-covered trail is comfortable to run on and mostly flat, although there is a high-level option.

Saundersfoot is a pretty little seaside village with bags of character including a harbour and a popular stretch of golden sandy beach. Busy in summer, have it all to yourself out of season.

A stunning beach. Very quiet when we went in September and worth the coastal walk from the Stackpole Quay car park. Felt like we could have been anywhere.

A beautiful bathing bay, ideal for taking a short break during a hike and enjoying the beautiful atmosphere and the play of light from the water and waves. There is a particularly beautiful view from the top of the enclosing wall, where a steep path leads down to the beach.

You will need to leave your bike in the car park to visit the Blue Lagoon, a short walk from Abereiddy beach. The Blue Lagoon is a breached slate quarry with a brilliant deep blue colour to the water. With a depth of 25 metres, this has been the venue for Red Bull Cliff diving. If you fancy a (cold) dip there are plenty of jump offs to step up too, from 2 metres to about 12 metres - make sure you're confident of your technique before taking on the higher jumps.

Saundersfoot is a seaside Pembrokeshire village with bags of character including a harbour, golden sandy beach, local train station and well loved New Year's Day swim!
