The Idarkopf offers excellent panoramic views over the surrounding Hunsrück heights. The new Idarkopf tower, a hybrid construction made of wood and hot-dip galvanized steel, was opened in December 2022 after the previous wooden tower, which was damaged by fire in 2018, was demolished in February 2022.

The observation tower on the Idarkopf in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, located in EdelSteinLand, is a good 30 m high and offers a breathtaking all-round view. The former tower fell victim to a fire in 2018 - now the hybrid construction made of timber and hot-dip galvanized steel adorns the summit. The new observation tower is a real eye-catcher. The platform is modeled on a bird's nest. 170 steps lead up. Those who are not afraid of heights will be rewarded with a great 360° panorama.

December 2022 After the old one burned down and had to be demolished, the Idarkopf (746 meters) now has a lookout tower again. A steel staircase with 170 steps and 9 rest platforms leads to the viewing platform of the 31.1 meter high tower. Breathtaking views of the region await visitors from this new highlight in EdelSteinLand.

“Each of these crosses can tell its own story and what motivated people to erect“ their ”cross at this point. (...) These crossroads were erected as visible signs and attract the eyes of many people. The cross is a symbol of life. It stands as a sign of our Christian hope and wants to direct our gaze to Jesus Christ, who overcame death (...). The cross is part of our life, just as it was part of the life of Jesus. So I hope that many people ... visit the crossroads, whether as places of silence and breathing before God, whether as places of congregation meeting, prayer and praise of God. " (Dean Rainald M. Ollig in "Wegekreuze")
