Hikers are welcome guests at the Krausberghütte, located on the mountain of the same name above Dernau, just a stone's throw from the Krausberg Tower (if interested, see https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/72123). It is run by the local chapter of the Eifel Association – a volunteer organization. Those planning a stop here should check the opening hours beforehand.

A striking point in the Ahreifel is undoubtedly the Krausberg above Dernau. It is not only known for a hut run by the local branch of the Eifel Association, but also for the Krausberg Tower.

I felt like I was in a mountain hut in the Alps.

From the vantage point "Bunte Kuh" you have a fantastic view of the beautiful Ahr valley.

Beautiful place on the meadow to rest with a beautiful view 👍 In 1911 the Steinerberghaus began as a simple refuge for the Eifel Association. Ten years later it was already an excursion restaurant with overnight accommodation. To mark the 100th birthday of the Steinerberghaus, a sundial by the Bonn sculptor Anton Schmitz was inaugurated. The special thing about this clock: it is tilted parallel to the earth's axis and directed north in the shape of a globe. It therefore represents the exact image of our planet and is illuminated by the sun at the same angle as it. A map of the Earth was also carved into the surface of this massive basalt ball. Spectacular view over the Ahr Mountains and into the beautiful Ahr Valley! When the weather is clear you can see the Siebengebirge in the distance.
