Lake Laach in the eastern Volcanic Eifel, near Maria Laach Abbey in the municipality of Glees, is the largest lake in Rhineland-Palatinate. It formed in the caldera of the Laach volcano after its last eruption, which was initially dated to 10,930 BC.
