A scenic rest area and car park with a "Pou" (an artwork in the form of a pole or column) by Maori artist Ross Hemera. Besides the large, 14 m high main sculpture, there is a stone/metal structure and a group of iron "figures", or small Pou, at the edge of the area. I'm sure there's already a highlight for the hut 😜 Very simple, but the oven heats up nicely when needed

Super basic hut and toilet along the Te Araroa trail. Plenty of flat ground for camping.

I was very happy about this new trail section next to the highway. Smooth gravel slope. But be careful! From the rest area with toilet it becomes a construction site, which currently ends the path in the middle of the hill and requires you to either turn around or scramble.

Beautifully located cabin with a wonderful view…
