Source De Gelderlander: No bullets, but culture at the shooting range in Wierden. The Old Shooting Range from 1939 has been restored to its former glory. Shooting is no longer allowed, the track is now a piece of cultural and historical heritage. The Old Shooting Range on the Schietbaanweg lay desolate for more than forty years. Overgrown by bushes and fallen trees, a collapsed sand pit with only remnants of the old railroad ties shooting gates. Only the rear gate stood the test of time and remained standing. While at the time of its founding in 1939, the shooting range was intended as an important training range for vigilantes, who could strengthen the police in times of emergency.
