The Negratín reservoir was inaugurated in 1984 and its construction meant the disappearance of the town of Las Juntas and the old spa of Zujar, as well as various farmhouses that remained under the waters of the reservoir. The Negratín reservoir is the second largest reservoir in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, with more than 567 Hm3.

It is the most important monument in the city. It was built in the Nasrid period between the 13th and 15th centuries and consists of a tower, two sections of wall, a cistern and a parapet next to it.

Tough climb but the gravel surface was good to do. Beautiful view over the surprisingly green valley.

The tunnel is not long but indeed unlit (contrary to a few photos). Without lighting it was a bit exciting but fortunately short.
