In any case, this first parish existed at the latest since 1487, since in that year the parish of Kist was designated as the easternmost in the Taubergau district chapter of the Archdiocese of Mainz, to which it belonged until after the Thirty Years' War in 1656. As a result, there was legal uncertainty regarding the parish's status. It is confirmed that from 1780 onward, chaplains from the parish of St. Martin (Kleinrinderfeld) served as pastors in Kist. A letter from the royal government of Lower Franconia and Aschaffenburg dated May 3, 1870, provides clarity: "The alleged branch status of the church in Kist is unfounded.
