2月 4, 2025, Winterspass mit dem Bike
There is a great debate about whether cycling is an appropriate sport in winter. If the snow and weather conditions are right, it can be quite appealing and fun. Of course, the temperatures and road conditions (salty, slippery, etc.) are an issue, as is the choice of tires, clothing and food! Compared to tours in ideal temperatures, dry ground, etc., winter rides are a completely different challenge. Once you've gotten to know it, you don't want to miss it and you find it fun. How often do you carelessly drive past a point you've already cycled to countless times, until you pay more attention to the same place in winter in snow and sunshine and take more time and discover completely new aspects of nature! This is also the case on the Col du Chasseral; either you come up from one side and go down the other, or you turn off to the hotel or even to the radio mast platform (if you haven't been up there, you haven't been to the Chasseral, that's my attitude). But the pass offers much more than just a crossing, albeit a little hidden, but that just takes some time.

South climb from Nods with a decent gradient of 9-13%, with peaks of up to 15%. The downhill is also easy to ride, but you have to brake a lot. If you have the choice, go up the north side and down the south side to Les Savagnières dessous. It is much flatter and therefore easier on the brakes.

It's steep, you need to be careful when driving down, the asphalt is bad in places.

more unpleasant ascent than the north ramp, too long straights; better for downhill

A strenuous, very beautiful route. However, many cars and motorcycles drive here, sometimes at high speeds.

Nice view of the Seeland and the Jura. Good starting point for mountain biking or hiking.

The view of the plain and the three lakes is incredible, and on a clear day the Alps are visible.

Small pass in the Bernese Jura, steep climbs and descents from Nods and Saint-Imier. It is possible to continue to Mont Chasseral. More information: https://www.quaeldich.de/paesse/col-du-chasseral/

Beautiful and busy pass. It's definitely worth the effort.

This is where the 1.5-kilometer final sprint to the highest point of the Chasseral begins. You can really push yourself to the limit, as only 100 meters of elevation gain await you in these 1,500 meters.

5月 11, 2017, Col du Chasseral South Ascent via Nods
The lower part of the southern ascent to the Col du Chasseral from Nods first leads through the village of Nods and then with a moderate gradient through the forest to the turnoff towards Sapin. From here the gradient begins to increase significantly to 12%.
