I've ridden Marriotts way many times, and it's a great route. However foolishly I didn't appreciate how muddy many parts of it get when it's been wet.

Beautiful traffic-free cycling in Holkham Park - could easily spend a few hours or more pootling round and stopping to enjoy a picnic

Continue past the RNLI station to reach the beach. The sea disappears into the distance across the sands at low tide.

Authentically restored heritage railway station - you get a great view from the adjacent road bridge. Appeared in Dad's Army as Walmington-on-Sea station.

This was a lovely off road bike ride and ideal for families. Unfortunately, ruined by out of control dogs off leads, or if on a lead it is a long lead that is barely visible so is a trip hazard. Lots of dogs jump up at you and chase after livestock. I ride responsibly with regard for other users on this shared path but I will not be riding it again any time soon. It’s a shame as I have used it for many years but I’ve had enough of the large amount of dog walkers who use this trail.

Cley is the essence of a North North coastal village. The mill adds drama to the scene.

Castle Rising in Norfolk is one of the most famous 13th century castles in the whole of England. The stones used to build the castle were produced around 1140D and are beautifully preserved. The castle holds a rich history and the grounds are open to the public to explore for a small fee. Wells-next-the-Sea is famous for its beach, and is considered by many to be the best beach in Norfolk. With a long stretch of unspoilt sandy beach on a gentle slope, Wells beach is a tranquil spot to enjoy the coast. At low tide, the sea can be over 1km away! Beautiful, colourful beach huts on the edge of the sand complete the picture perfect scene.

Opposite the entrance there is a grassy area with shade which is ideal for a picnic stop

Great to watch the trains. You might need the stop on the bridge as its a bit of a climb from here.

One of the largest, best preserved and most lavishly decorated keeps in England, surrounded by 20 acres of mighty earthworks. Building of the castle was begun in 1138 by the Norman lord William d'Albini for his new wife, the widow of Henry I. In the 14th century it became the luxurious residence of Queen Isabella, widow (and alleged murderess) of Edward II. Get inside and climb up to the top. Also walk around the edge of the earthworks surrounding the place: there's a great view.

Go to the beach to check out the beach huts and look for seals.

Pub by the ferry with nice outside space. Lunches good but check opening times I think it's closed Monday and Tuesday
