Šehitluci su udaljeni 5 km od grada. Na ovom mjestu je do kraja Prvog svjetskog rata bilo turbe trojice nepoznatih junaka, poginulih u ratovima sa Austrijancima, pa je brdo dobilo ime Šehitluci. Spomenik je podignut na mjestu gdje je 8. juna 1941. godine održana Oblasna konferencija Komunističke partije Jugoslavije za Bosansku krajinu i nekoliko savjetovanja vezanih za podizanje ustanka koji su presudno uticali na organizovanje i tok ustanka u Bosanskoj krajini. Spomenik na Šehitlucima ili Banj brdu, kod Banje Luke je podignut u znak sjećanja na nekoliko hiljada krajiških partizana koji su poginuli u Narodno-oslobodilačkom ratu Jugoslavije. Spomenik je otkriven na Dan ustanka naroda BiH - 27. jula 1961. godine. Djelo je poznatog kipara Antuna Augustinčića, dok se na zidovima u unutrašnjosti objekta nalaze crteži Ismeta Mujezinovića preneseni na kamen tehnikom sitotiska. This section from the border to Zavala (or alternatively from Trebinje) is well paved and easy to ride. Be aware there are still land mines in this area, be very careful if wild camping. Its expansion into a heavily fortified fortress with defensive towers began in the 15th century under Ferhat Pasa Sokolovic. After the Ottomans, the Austrians took over the fortress, and during World War II, it was even used by the German Wehrmacht. The fortress complex is located on a vast site that, in addition to the bastions and defensive towers, includes a large park and a restaurant. In summer, the Kastel is a popular destination for relaxing or picnicking in the beautiful surroundings of the Vrbas River. Numerous festivals and events also take place here during the summer months.

It's a lovely place to stroll through the pleasant pedestrian zone. Many shops and cafés invite you to explore and linger. What's particularly striking here is the friendly nature of the people.
