1月 16, 2023, Macocha Abyss
You can reach Macoch from two sides, go up to the parking lot and walk about 1 km, or go down to the parking lot, walk about 2 km and take the cable car up. The second option is a bigger experience, we didn't wait in line anywhere, the walk to the cable car was pleasant and you got moving. I recommend visiting both viewpoints, from the bottom you can see the very bottom of Macocha. There are fewer people during the week.

At the beginning of the 1950s during the Cold War, four tunnels were excavated under the Babická plateau in the Křtinské údolí on the left (southern) slope in the area between Švýcárná and the Vaječník groove. Their purpose was to be used for war production in the event of a conflict. It is likely to be linked to arms production in the nearby Adamovské strojírny. After the emigration of the chief engineer and the disclosure of the plans in the Swiss press, it was decided to end the digging of tunnels and to wall up the buildings. Since then, the abandoned tunnels have been crawled by dozens of curious cavers and tourists. In recent years, an expert geological survey was carried out in the tunnels. The tunnels were excavated on the slopes of the Jelenec hill: tunnels I and II on the east and tunnels III and IV on the north. slope. The underground spaces of the tunnels near the entrances are inhabited by a community of invertebrates that are partly adapted to life in the dark and damp. Around tunnels III and IV. Josefovská údolí educational trail leads. Tunnel No. I is located near the Kostelík cave. It is approx. 150 m long and slopes slightly towards the SW. Just before the end of the tunnel, there is a cave-in behind which approximately half of the tunnel is permanently flooded. Also before the cave-in there is water from about halfway up to waist height. Only exceptionally is the bottom dry and it is possible to collapse.

First you hike through a stalactite cave, then you have an overwhelming view of a 150m high gorge before you are taken by boat through another cave. Now and then you can get out and marvel at side corridors. Belongs to the absolute top list of caves (gorges) accessible to tourists

5月 11, 2020, Macocha Abyss
Up here you stand over a huge cave and look into the stepmother's gorge (Propast Macocha). In the cave (Punkva cave) there is a view upwards. Worth seeing. We stayed in the Chata Macocha, simple but okay. More information: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macocha

3月 22, 2020, Macocha Abyss
The Macocha, German spelling Mazocha, also stepmother gorge is a 138.5 m deep collapse doline in the Moravian Karst. The abyss in the hallway of the Vilémovice municipality has a surface area of 174 mx 76 m and is the deepest in the Czech Republic. The break has a depth of 187 m to the subsoil of the rubble cone, which is bordered on both sides by two ponds. The water of the underground Punkva river flows through the cone. The visible watercourse is not the Punkva, but an inflow from the amateur caves, which are the largest cave system in the Czech Republic with an extension of 30 km. The natural monument is located 6 km east of the town of Blansko and is part of the Punkevní jeskyně cave system. Two viewing terraces were erected on the steep walls. The upper platform is located on the high southwest wall in the immediate vicinity of the Chata Macocha and offers an insight into the depth and the opposite wall. It was built in 1882 by the Brno section of the Austrian Tourist Club. At the opening ceremony on October 1, 1882, it was christened “Ripka-Warte” in honor of the section board. From the "Lower View", which has been in the northwest since 1899, the opposite exit from the caves is particularly visible. According to - Wikipedia https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macocha

Very nice bike path through the karst landscape with caves. Initially, the cycle path leads along the Punkva River, car traffic is possible up to the parking lot, after that it is a pure cycle path. Cycle route markings No. 5 and 5A, by Skalní Mlýn there is a restaurant and information.
