Nice walk, can be extended a bit on the way back if you choose the path through the forest instead of the direct route back to the parking lot.

The church, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, was built in the 17th century on the ruins of the former Franciscan monastery church. The church was destroyed and rebuilt several times during various wars. The church remained in use after World War II, but was closed in 1950 and converted into a warehouse. The church was re-consecrated in 1992 and is also used extensively as a concert hall. Interesting facts: The church features an altar table designed by Aivar Oja and stained-glass windows by Renee Aua. The tapestries were woven by local textile artist Prof. Anu Raud, whose work "Emapuu" is on display at the UN headquarters in New York.

As the city of Viljandi grew in the mid-19th century, a single church in the city became too small for the residents. The lord of Viljandi, Baron Ungern-Sternberg, gave the parish a plot of land from his estate to build a new church. Interesting facts: • The architect of the sacred building, consecrated in 1866, was Matthias von Holst. • The building used so-called Tudor Gothic forms popular at the time. • The author of the altarpiece "Christ on the Cross" was Karl Christian Andreae. • Since 1866, the church has housed the organ by G. Knauf, the largest of its kind in Estonia, which still functions today.

The bridge, built in Riga in 1879 by Felser & Co., was erected in Viljandi's Castle Hills in 1931. The bridge was donated to the city by the Tarvastu manor owner, Karl von Mensenkampf. Interesting facts: · The bridge is over 50 meters long. · The bridge was suspended over the 15-meter-deep valley. · Initially, the bridge hung over the Tarvastu moat to facilitate access for the manor family to the chapel located in the ruins. The suspension bridge has become a favorite among both the city's residents and visitors and one of Viljandi's most important symbols. The bridge was renovated in 1995.

The raised moor walk here has a special charm. The wooden plank deck meanders through the vast moorland, and the numerous small lakes along the way shimmer in the sunlight. With the open expanse and the deep blue water, you get a real sense of untamed nature. Halfway along, a viewing platform invites you to linger, perfect for a little rest or to fully enjoy the peace of the moor. On the way back, it is recommended to take a small detour through the forest - this way you can extend the experience a little. However, you should remember to bring insect repellent here, as mosquitoes are quite numerous. A swim in the moor lake is a refreshing end to an impressive hike, although the water is quite cool.

The Lemmjõe Trail takes you through a landscape that gives the impression of a true wilderness. The narrow path winds through dense, shady forest and small clearings open up again and again, revealing a view of the slowly flowing water. Here, nature shows its original side - mighty, mossy oaks tower into the sky and old, fallen tree trunks remind us that the cycle of life continues undisturbed here. But this idyll also has its pitfalls: mosquito repellent is a must, because the little pests are numerous. But it is worth persevering to enjoy the peace that can be found away from the hustle and bustle of the world. It hardly matters whether you walk the path clockwise or in the other direction, because there is something new to discover everywhere - be it a hidden beaver lodge or a particularly wild section of the river. Anyone travelling here should be prepared for a slow-paced tour that is more about experiencing than about reaching a specific destination.

The Beaver Trail leads you deep into a green, vibrant world where nature still has its own rhythm. After just a few meters, you're enveloped by moist, earthy air, and the rustling of leaves mingles with the gentle rippling of the water. The trail winds along a quiet stream, where beaver tracks can be seen along its banks – nibbled tree trunks and artfully layered dams bear witness to these industrious builders. You'll find information panels throughout, providing fascinating insights into the lives of beavers. For example, you'll learn that their burrows have cleverly submerged entrances to protect themselves from predators. It's fascinating to see how these animals shape and change the landscape without often being seen. The wooden walkway makes it easier to walk, but after rainfall, it can be a bit slippery in places – so sturdy footwear isn't a bad idea. The surrounding nature appears untouched, and the mix of dense forest, open water, and overgrown shores provides variety. It's an ideal place to enjoy the tranquility and gaze over the mirror-smooth water.
