This traditional red wooden cabin serves as a welcoming refuge for hikers and skiers exploring the surrounding mountain trails. The hut features a spacious outdoor seating area where visitors can rest and take in the panoramic views of the distant peaks and fjords. It is an ideal starting point or resting stop that embodies the rustic charm of the highland wilderness.

Unfortunately, we arrived a little too late; it was just closing. The atmosphere is very inviting. Old cabin built around 1900. "1902: The Grand Hotel hosts a dinner for Kaiser Wilhelm and 40 guests at Storlihytta."

Tverrlihytta is beautifully situated in the mountains above Bøverdalen just to the south of the border between Møre og Rømsdal and Trøndelag. Built in 1999, it is one of the most charming cabins on the Fjordruta and is also used by those doing the classic, shorter circuit from Valsøybotn and over Hardbakkhytta. The views to the south, into the heart of Surnadal, are glorious.

Rovangen is a charming DNT facility on Rostolvatnet. It's a self-service cabin with a total of 24 beds across the two buildings. There's excellent fishing on the lake, while the nearby peak of Rostolen provides great sea views out towards Smøla.

Renndølsetra is a mountain pasture farm in an absolutely idyllic setting. There's accommodation, with evening meals for guests, while hikers not staying can also sample some local produce here too. It's a great place for a break in beautiful Innerdalen.
