Fynshoved Camping was built in 1962 on the Hindsholm peninsula. The site covers 11 hectares with 230 pitches, arranged so that large open spaces exist between the rows. There are also 15 cabins and, since 2023, a new bathing jetty on the beautiful beach with clean bathing water. It is perfect for all outdoor activities and is also fantastic for, for example, SUP boarding, kayaking, kitesurfing, and windsurfing. The area also offers wonderful hiking routes in picturesque surroundings. Fynshoved is located in an arid region where rainfall is 25% less than the rest of the country, resulting in unique vegetation. The long stretches of coastline offer good opportunities for fishing and fossil hunting. This is an interesting natural area with hills, bays, and small islands. There is also a rich birdlife here, including little terns, green woodpeckers, and white-tailed eagles. You can observe deer, fallow deer, hares, and pheasants up close. There are bird sanctuaries and nature reserves in the surrounding area for unique nature experiences. The campsite has two playgrounds, one with rabbits and birds, and a large playground with bouncy castles and a large climbing frame. There is also a sports field for soccer and volleyball, among other activities. The campsite has two service buildings with solar heating. There is a well-stocked grocery store, a delicious grill café serving everything from homemade lobster burgers and fish platters to hot dogs and old-fashioned ice cream cones, and mini golf. Andresens Gård is a beautiful historic merchant's house in Kerteminde's old town. The oldest part of Andresens Gård dates back to the 16th century. The Amanda statue is the symbol of Kerteminde. It was created in 1954 by the artist Robert Lund Jensen and symbolizes the beautiful, graceful daughters of the town. The story of Amanda comes from a girl whose real name was Sophie Krag. Sophie was a young girl from Kerteminde who suffered a sad fate and died of an illness at the age of only 40. She was one of eight children of the watchmaker Edvard Krag and his wife Marie Catrine Ovesen Wittrock. At the age of 20, she traveled to Copenhagen to emulate her sister Augusta Møller and become an actress. She received a job as a revue actress at the Nørrebro Theater, was quickly accepted into the acting world, and became engaged to the writer Anton Melbye, who was ten years older. According to the story, she met an old acquaintance from Kerteminde, the law student Wilhelm Nielsen, with whom she began a flirtation despite their engagement. The end of the story was a tragic annulment of the engagement. The upper middle class was outraged, and a good friend of Anton's, the composer Axel Schwanenflügel, wrote the song "Harper i luften" (Harps in the Air) for the Winter Revue in 1893 – the famous song that begins with the line "Min Amanda var fra Kerteminde" (My Amanda was from Kerteminde). The town of Kerteminde has, of course, long since forgiven its "Amanda" for her unfaithful debauchery and erected a monument to her as a symbol of the beautiful and graceful daughters of Kerteminde, whom one simply cannot help but love.
