2月 22, 2024, Beyşehir Stone Bridge and Regulator Dam
After Konya Governor Avlonyalı Ferit Pasha became Grand Vizier, the stone bridge, which was tendered to the Anatolian-Ottoman Railway Company in 1907 and completed between 1908 and 1914, was built as a regulatory dam system. The length of the stone bridge is 40.70 meters and its width is 6.35 meters. In the west there are 14 columns and a 15-gate bridge arch. The beautiful stone bridge is the first irrigation project of the Ottoman Empire, irrigating the Konya Plain, which is fed by Lake Beyşehir.

4月 30, 2023, Eşrefoğlu Mosque
One of the few surviving "wooden mosques" of Seljuk architecture, Islamic sacred buildings with wooden columned halls and wooden roofs. It was built between 1296 and 1299 by Seyfeddin Süleyman Bey, one of the beys of the Eşrefoğulları Dynasty (ca. 1280-1326). This ruled one of the Anatolian Beyliks that emerged after the end of the Rum Seljuk Sultanate.

12月 30, 2021, Ancient City of Lystra
It is mentioned six times in the New Testament. Lystra was visited several times by Paul the Apostle, together with Barnabas or Silas. There Paul met a young disciple, Timothy. Lystra was taken up by various authors in ancient Lycaonia, Isauria or Galatia. Lystra is the old name of the village that Paul the Apostle visited. Near Gökyurt, a village in Meram District in Konya Province, there is today's village called "Kilistra". Ancient ruins can be seen near Klistra, including a church with a large cross on the wall, a winery, house-like buildings, and the ruins of a hilltop town locally called "Alusumas" which is another church ruin. According to locals, the less visible city was built over the hill to hide from the enemies of ancient Anatolia. This site is still waiting to be excavated. Source: Wikipedia

12月 29, 2021, Mevlana Museum and Mausoleum
Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī - Rumi for short - mostly called Maulawī in Persian (born September 30, 1207 in Balch, today in Afghanistan, died December 17, 1273 in Konya), was a Persian Sufi mystic, scholar and one of the most important Persian-speaking poets of the Middle Ages. From his followers, especially the dervishes, he was nicknamed Maulana (Turkish spelling: Mevlânâ) for "our Lord / Master". The Mevlevi Dervish Order is named after him. Source: Wikipedia

12月 29, 2021, Aziziye Mosque
The architectural style is a mixture of baroque and traditional Ottoman architecture. Still, this mosque has many features that make it unique. It is a double minaret building. In every minaret the Şerefe roof (balcony) is supported by columns, which makes the mosque in Turkey unique. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aziziye_Mosque,_Konya

12月 29, 2021, Ebony Minbar of Alaeddin Mosque
The ebony pulpit (minbar) is dated to 1155 and is perhaps the only remaining part of the original building's furnishings. The original mihrab niche was decorated with faience tiles in various shades (turquoise and cobalt blue, manganese violet). During the renovations of 1891, a niche of white marble was added in front of it, so that only the upper half of the niche and the triangular sections of the faience mosaic at the transition to the dome retain their original mosaic decoration. According to Aslanapa, the style and technique of these mosaics are comparatively advanced, suggesting they date to the construction period under Kai Kobad I. Source: Wikipedia

12月 16, 2021, Mausoleum of Nasreddin Hoca
He is the most prominent protagonist of humorous prosaic stories in the entire Turkish-Islamic influenced area from the Balkans to the Turkic peoples of Central Asia. Its historical existence is not certain; it is believed that he was born in the 13th / 14th Lived in Akşehir in southwestern Anatolia in the 17th century. A mausoleum with his name, which is located here, speaks for the southwestern Anatolian Akşehir as the place of his work. All sorts of witty, humorous or fluctuating stories were subsequently attributed to him. In many stories he simply plays a joke like Klein Fritzchen, in others a kind of Till Eulenspiegel, although there are certainly similarities in the stories about Eulenspiegel (see, for example, The Sound of Money, which is comparable in Till Eulenspiegel or in Grimm's fairy tales). From Italy to India he is known in all Islamic and Christian regions, and local events are ascribed to him in many places. Nasraddin or Nostradin is claimed by most of the peoples of the regions mentioned above, but his ethnicity remains unknown. Source: Wikipedia
