Hard ride, worth the effort, pretty steep at the start of the decent into Nelson, but quickly levels out to a brilliant decent.

Albion Square was the seat of the Nelson Region Provincial Government from the late 1850s to the 1870s. All civic affairs were decided here. Today it is a historic reserve, protected due to the large number of historic remains. The fire station, trout farm and a survey chain test marker are protected as Category 1 historic places due to their outstanding historical significance.

It is probably an OK alternative to the Highway from Pelorious Bridge to Nelson. The Nelson Side is way steeper. No matter which direction you go and no matter how little lugage you take, you will probably need to push your bike in some parts up the hill and eventually even down the hill.

The Maungatapu Saddle is the main route for power lines from Nelson to Marlborough. The gravel road is very rough and steep, especially on the western side. Open only to walkers, mountain bikers and motorcycles. Closed to all other motorized vehicles since 2010.

Great little park with several seats. Great bridges and beautiful flower beds. In the center is a small fountain.

A pedestrian street with great cafes and restaurants. You walk directly to Christ Church Cathedral. Definitely a place to feel good.
