The roast pork with dumplings and coleslaw was a delicious way to refuel after the hike through the snow. Unfortunately, I was too hungry to take a picture. But I managed to get one while enjoying the chocolate-covered marshmallow treat and mulled wine. 😀 Everything was homemade – hearty, good Austrian cuisine in a cozy mountain hut atmosphere – just as you'd want it.

The Dr. Erwin Pröll Millennium Observatory on the Hirschenkogel is a modern observation tower and a true highlight of the region. From its spacious platform, you can enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of the Vienna Alps, the Rax Mountains, the Schneeberg Mountains, and far into Styria. The tower is easily accessible by cable car or on foot, making every visit to the Hirschenkogel a special experience.

The observation tower on the Hirschenkogel is perched right next to the mountain station and offers spectacular panoramic views of the Semmering region. From the platform, an impressive panorama opens up over the Rax, the Schneeberg, and the Styrian mountains, all the way to the Vienna Basin. The climb to the tower is worthwhile at any time of year and makes the Hirschenkogel a special highlight of the region.
